Great Moments in College Students' Grasp of Reality: 70% Don't Know How Much Booze Their Peers are Guzzling

posted Friday, 30 September 2005

Why is this story even in the news?  Why????

Misguided instructors like yours truly are still trying to teach people about history, literature, languages, politics, and other subjects which won't buy you a big house or a nice car but just maybe might make your brain a more interesting place to live for the rest of your life.

But noooooooooooooo, everyone's so absorbed with alcohol that we're fretting about how students don't know how much booze their peers are downing.  Yes, alcohol consumption is a problem on campuses . . . because a lot of goofball undergrads think they're there to party, not study.  Uh, hello, irresponsible drinking is a form of (shocker) irresponsibility in general

Grow up, people.  For your own sakes.  Plus, there's more to college life -- and life, period -- than getting sloshed and killing brain cells.  Get your priorities straight.
